You are The High Priestess

Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

Random Meme

1. What is your main cell phone ring-tone?
Cingular = 'People are Strange' clip, by The Doors. It seemed appropriate.

2. What is your default LJ icon?
A rainbow eye. With a boatload of mascara on.

3. What station is your car radio permanently tuned to?
It's not permanently tuned to any one station. I have a country station on there, a classic rock station, a jazz station, and something the kids like. Probably alternative indie emo headbanging.

4. What is your computer desktop image?
The standard Microsoft blue. I don't spend a great deal of time staring at my desktop.

5. Is there something you wear every single day?
Clothes. *g* Doesn't everyone? Oh, they meant jewelry. My wedding band, engagement ring (we were not engaged, per se, but we got sparklers anyway), and anniversary band. All in amethyst because diamonds might be forever, but I like purple better. My wife, bless her heart, knows this and shopped accordingly. Her rings don't match mine; she likes sapphires.

6. I wish I had a tracking device on:
What's a tracking device? I mean, I know what a tracking device is, theoretically. Do you mean the LJ tracking thing? Haven't used it. A locator/tracking spell? I'd want to nail my eldest with that, although she's got a cell phone, so I can call her every five minutes if I want to.

What I really want is a device that makes the coffee, adds the appropriate accessories to my cup, fills said cup with wake up juice, stirs everything together, then levitates it gently in front of me so I don't have to actually move in order to ingest caffeine first thing in the morning.

7. What page does your internet browser open with?
Depends. If I'm on AOL, I get the Welcome screen. If I just use IE, it opens to yahoo so I can attempt to remember my email addy and check it now and again.

8. This item never leaves my purse/handbag:
I recently broke down and acquired a teeny weeny purse that holds my wallet, keys, inhaler, cell phone, and a pen. That's it. It still feels entirely too girly, but...sometimes, I don't have pockets, you know? As I get older, I wear jeans less often when I must leave the house.

9. What TV show do you never miss?
The L Word. When it's on. Sunday nights are sacred in this house.

10. What phrase do you hear yourself repeating too often?
"Knock it off, girls. Right now." My daughters love each other (probably), but it's their mission in life to torment one another into insanity. Or to torment ME into insanity. There's little difference when they get wound up.

1. How long have you reading and/or writing HP fanfiction?
Since last June or so for reading and last August 14th for the writing.

2. Which rarer pairing(s) would you like to see more fics written about?
Harry/Bill, Harry/Charlie, Harry/Voldie or Tom Riddle, Harry/Bellatrix. Believable on the last two, please. I need a reason for Harry to jump into bed with either of 'em. Other than lack of lube in the dungeons.

3. What topic(s) would you like to see more of in a more popular pairing?
Snarry, with bottom or sub Snape, jealous Snape, possessive Snape. Make him miserable before the reasonably happy ending.

4. What theme(s) would you like to see more of in general?
Time travel fics that are well done, and Harry as a father.

5. Which theme(s) would you like to see less of?
Weak Harry chasing after this guy or that girl or Snape, for Merlin's sake. WHY would he chase after someone so deliberately unpleasant? He'd not earn Snape's respect in that fashion.

6. Out of all the WIPs you are reading, which one would you most like to be updated today?
BobMin's 'Sunrise Over Britain', Crys's 'Scion of Gryffindor', Viridian's 'Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Futures Past'.

7. Which completed fic would you presently most like to read a sequel to?
Lexin & Tidmag's 'Unnatural'.

8. What theme or pairing would you most like to see a list for (note: not 'make' a list for)?
Harry/Charlie, Harry/Bellatrix.

9. If you've posted bunnies or challenges on the net, which one would you most like to see used?
I haven't posted any in awhile, except at a Harry/Remus comm.

10. Who is your very favourite HP author?
Tira Nog, Viridian, lots and lots of others.

Answer some or all; put it in comments or post at your LJ and give me the link; or just ignore this post entirely - whatever you want :)

Name ten of life's simple pleasures that you like most, and then pick ten people to do the same. Try to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used. In no particular order:

1. The peaceful feeling that comes from sitting in a spotless house, late at night, when everyone's asleep but me, nothing needs to be done, and I have all the time in the world to indulge my nocturnal reading habit. It's not often peaceful or private around here, so I cherish those times when it is.

2. Waking up slowly in the middle of the night to find my wife slipping into bed, freshly scrubbed and decidedly amorous. She smells good, she feels good, and so forth (I'll spare you my more graphic thoughts). I find myself not caring about lost sleep during those quietly romantic times.

3. Finding my favorite brand of coffee on sale at the grocery. It's still hellaciously expensive, but saving a buck or two a pound is bliss. Actually, the Kona Blue itself is bliss; the reduction in price is just a bonus.

4. Fresh strawberries, sliced and doused in cream, for breakfast. There's a farmer's market just down the road from me that opens obscenely early. On lucky days, they have strawberries. The owner never minds that I'm sleepy and taciturn, that my ponytail is askew, or that I'm yawning while choosing fruit and perhaps some dinner ingredients. She knows I'm not a morning person, but the lure of the berries overcomes the lure of the lie-in, and I visit her market a couple of times a week. I'm rarely disappointed in the berry department, and sometimes she saves other stuff for me that she knows I'll want, like nifty spices and exceptional tomatoes.

5. Watching my cats, all four of 'em, race each other up and down the hallway. I love that everyone gets along with everyone else now, and I'm ever so glad to have Draco back with us. See previous entry today for a brief explanation of where he was and why he's back.

6. Second hand bookstores. It's like an ocean of calm when I find a new one. They are, in general, quiet places. People treat them like libraries, and tend to whisper. More and more second hand bookstore owners are taking their lead from places like Borders, and putting squashy armchairs in corners, so a person can sit down, curl up, and flip through a treasure to see if they really want to purchase it. More often than not, I end up buying whatever I'm flipping through.

7. The feel of my favorite old cashmere cardigan, when I wrap it around myself to ward off the chill of an early morning or late evening excursion. It's at least twenty years old, soft, warm, sturdy, and much loved. My wife tells me the color of it exactly matches my eyes. One of the buttons is cracked, from our third date, when she kissed me good night. I refuse to replace the button, because the memory it prompts is very precious indeed.

8. Nearly burning dinner because there is an urgent need to kiss and be kissed. Sometimes, I just look at her and have to express myself. Or vice versa.

9. The blinding smile thrown at me by my often difficult youngest child when I tell her I'm proud of her.

10. The smell and feel of clean laundry, fresh from the dryer. Also, the sense of accomplishment I feel when the dratted chore is finished, the clothes all folded or hung and put away.

Culinary: Chocolate There's nothing like a Lindner's Milk Chocolate Truffle...or a bag of them.
Literary: I haven't read 'literature' in a long while I want a good story, with engaging characters and a happy ending. I'm not interested in broadening my horizons too terribly much.
Audiovisual: The L Word I know, I'm a married woman...but I perve on those girls SO bad. Yummy, all of 'em.
Musical: Country music I love it, even when it's 'my dog left me and my best friend stole my wife and my truck' music.

I'm cutting this due to the somewhat licentious nature of my answers. Blessed Imbolc to those who celebrate.

I had to give this some degree of thought, as guilt is an emotion largely alien to me. I don't 'do' guilt particularly well. I've fought enough battles and been through enough crap in my life that I consider my hard earned domestic tranquility to be a reward of sorts. People would like for me to feel guilty about that; I can't be arsed to oblige 'em. I enjoy my pleasures and attempt not to hurt other beings in the pursuit of them, so I don't think of them as 'guilty'. Having said that, there are some things I do that are goofy, and pleasurable. Perhaps they'll fit the bill.

New Year's Resolutions

1. Clean the house. Thoroughly.

2. Write a thousand words a day. Best to start small; I habitually rebell against anything that even smells like a desk job.

3. Figure out what the Hecate I'm doing with my life, beyond housewifery and being obsessed with fanfic.

4. Color my hair to hide the gray again. I haven't cared enough to in the past five months. How sad is that?

5. Leave the house and interact with actual three dimensional people more often.

Will I actually do any of these? Probably numbers 1, 2, and 4. Three is something that sorta coincides with two and five is pretty much a pipe dream; I don't actually like people enough to interact with 'em regularly.

Happy New Year, y'all :)
